Hythall (/hythall / [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Tstsdi̊qèv County, Hesan County, within the Kingdom of Helsteria.

The name Hythall is derived from the Sylvin language, as Hythall was founded by Erchoril Perÿdotqug Wheatley, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Hythall has a yearly average temperature of 28°C (82°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 33°C (91°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 24°C (75°F). Hythall receives an average of 144 cm/y (56 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Hythall covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 2036 m (6679 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Hythall was founded durring the early 15th century in winter of the year 1409, by Erchoril Perÿdotqug Wheatley. The establishment of Hythall was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Hythall 's construction back out of the project. Erchoril Perÿdotqug Wheatley pushed on reguardles, and Hythall was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Hythall was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Hythall is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Hythall is is constructed arround a semi-circular premissive baked earthen mainstreet, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to eachother at varrious points. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks, spikes, and fences to provide some protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. The minimaly adiquite have not been wellmaintained over the years, and while functional are in dire need of some loving care and perhapse light renovation.

Hythall has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Hythall ’s streets.

Civic Infrastructure

Hythall has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Hythall .

Hythall has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Hythall has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Hythall has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Hythall 's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Hythall possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Hythall 's grid is powered by hydrogalvanic generators.

Hythall has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Hythall has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

The locals have cut a deal with some unspeakable entity, trading some form of tribute (benign of horrific) in exchange for the being’s forbearance or assistance. Outsiders may be ignorant of the bargain, or they may know that the community is in thrall but be too fearful of its master to take action against them. The creature likely serves as a protector as well as a tyrant, so the locals may be content with the deal even if it doesn’t offer any further inducement or aid.

Hythall 's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by grandeur of scale, simplicity of geometric forms, dramatic use of columns, and a preference for blank walls. This design ethos extended to re-imagining earlier styles of structure to create them anew, with a similar overall look and feel to one another..

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is long in Hythall .

The Chitikin near Hythall are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Hythall 's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves creating small tokens to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 1 via speaking in tongues.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century was struck by a great wind storm. A great funnel cloud itself touched down in Hythall , bringing twisting winds which killed 144 people, 357 livestock, and 24 buildings in the disaster.. The disaster is generally remembered as the Howling Winds of Horror.
